Vintage 1970s Moët & Chandon Musical Cigarette Dispenser – Love Story

A fabulous and wonderfully nostalgic vintage Moët & Chandon musical cigarette dispenser, dating from the 1970s and designed in the form of a bottle of Brut Impérial champagne.

At first glance it appears to be a bottle of Moët, complete with its wonderfully aged original-style labels, black casing and silver foil. Lift the upper section, however, and the bottle opens to reveal a fantastic mechanical arrangement of individual brass-coloured cigarette holders, which fan out dramatically around the central column.

Even better, the dispenser incorporates a wind-up musical movement.

The mechanism is wound from the base and plays Francis Lai’s beautiful Theme from Love Story – “(Where Do I Begin?)”, from the iconic 1970 film Love Story. As the bottle is opened the music begins to play; close the bottle and the music stops.

The musical and opening mechanisms are both in working order.

A wonderfully evocative piece of 1970s cocktail-bar design and a fantastic survivor from an era when cigarette dispensers were made to be displayed and enjoyed.

Today it makes an extraordinary decorative object, conversation piece, bar accessory or addition to a collection of vintage advertising and champagne memorabilia.
