A superb original Art Deco boxing sculpture, dating to approximately the 1920s–1930s, depicting a male boxer poised mid-fight with fists raised and his body beautifully modelled in an energetic fighting stance.

The figure has all the wonderful characteristics of the Art Deco period: strong angular features, slicked-back hair, elongated athletic proportions and wonderfully observed boxing shorts, shoes and musculature.

Finished in a wonderfully aged dark patina with subtle bronze-green tones, the figure is mounted upon a stepped dark plinth above a substantial cream and grey veined marble base, giving the piece real weight and presence.

The sculpture measures approximately 10½ inches / 26.7 cm high including the base.

A particularly stylish piece of 1930s sporting sculpture, ideal for a collector of boxing memorabilia, Art Deco sculpture or vintage sporting art. It would also make a fabulous statement piece in a study, gentleman’s dressing room, club interior or eclectic collection.

Condition: Good antique/vintage condition with age-related surface wear, patination, minor marks and oxidation consistent with its age. The marble shows natural variation and some age wear. Please study all photographs carefully as they form part of the description.
