A magnificent, exceptionally heavy antique copper saucepan by Leon Jaeggi & Sons Ltd, renowned manufacturing coppersmiths of London and Staines, bearing their distinctive Helvetia maker’s stamp.

A beautiful example of traditional British copper craftsmanship, with Swiss heritage reflected in the Helvetia trademark. This substantial, professional-quality saucepan features wonderfully worked copper, displaying the subtle, overlapping impressions associated with traditional hand-planishing.

The richly coloured copper has acquired an extraordinary mellow patina, with warm rose-gold and russet tones, natural oxidation and the gentle marks of generations of use.

Its impressive cylindrical body is complemented by a beautifully shaped, substantial brass handle, firmly secured with three copper rivets. The handle also bears the hand-engraved number 204, adding further character and interest.

The interior retains what appears to be its original tin lining, now heavily patinated, whilst the underside displays the attractive marks and irregularities associated with traditionally worked copper.

Particularly desirable are the original impressed manufacturer’s marks, identifying Leon Jaeggi & Sons Ltd, Manufacturing Coppersmiths, London & Staines, together with the distinctive Helvetia emblem.

A wonderful survivor of an era when professional kitchen equipment was beautifully crafted, exceptionally durable and intended to last for generations.

Perfect as a statement piece in a traditional country kitchen, displayed alongside antique culinary utensils, or incorporated into an elegant French-inspired interior.
