A wonderfully romantic late Victorian / Edwardian colour print, dating to around 1890–1910, depicting an elegant young woman dancing beneath a delicate garland of flowers.

The female figure is beautifully portrayed in a flowing pale gown, posed almost like a classical muse or dancer against a soft atmospheric landscape. The muted blue, green, blush and sepia colouring gives the image a particularly lovely ethereal quality.

On close examination the very fine regular printed texture can be clearly seen, identifying this as an antique mechanically produced colour print, most likely from one of the sophisticated chromolithographic / photomechanical processes popular around the turn of the 20th century.

It remains presented in its period gilt wooden frame, complete with old backing and substantial original-style metal hanging rings. The wide warm-gold frame complements the delicate colours of the image beautifully.

A genuinely charming piece of c.1900 decorative art, and particularly lovely for a bedroom, dressing room, gallery wall or romantic French-inspired interior.

Condition

Good antique condition with the expected signs of age. There is wear, rubbing, small marks and losses to the gilt finish of the frame, together with age and wear to the original backing.
