A fascinating early Victorian silver thimble commemorating the marriage of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert on 10 February 1840.

Beautifully decorated with silhouette portraits of the royal couple, their respective dates of birth and an inscription recording their marriage at St James’s Palace.

The finely stippled crown and engraved commemorative details make this a particularly charming survivor from the early years of Queen Victoria’s reign.

Measuring 23 mm high and 17 mm at its widest diameter.

Presented in antique condition, with a wonderfully aged patina, surface wear and several small holes to the crown, all clearly illustrated in the photographs.

Apparently unhallmarked, as is the case with some early silver thimbles of this type.

A delightful piece of royal history and an appealing addition to a specialist thimble, sewing or royal memorabilia collection.
