A charming two-volume French edition of En Famille by Hector Malot, published in Paris by Nelson Éditeurs in 1933.
Complete with Tome Premier and Tome Second, this attractive matching pair is bound in cream cloth with wonderfully decorative printed covers and spines, featuring elegant ribbon and foliate motifs typical of Nelson’s beautifully designed French editions.
Hector Malot (1830–1907) was a celebrated French novelist, perhaps best known internationally for Sans Famille. En Famille is another of his much-loved works, and the title page notes that the work was “couronné par l’Académie française”.

Both books remain particularly attractive as a matching pair. There is age-related discolouration and some marking to the pale cloth, together with light wear around the edges and spine ends, as expected from books now over 90 years old. The interiors appear remarkably clean and well preserved from your photographs.
A lovely little 1930s French literary set, equally appealing to a collector of Hector Malot or vintage French books and as a decorative pair for a French-inspired interior.
